Installing Xkaliber

Make sure you have a large enough USB drive, as some downloads can be over 20GB.

Download Necessary Files:
- Xkaliber OS ISO: Download an Xkaliber ISO file using one of the links provided on this page.
- Ventoy: Visit the Official Ventoy Website.

Prepare the Ventoy Bootable USB Drive:
- Insert your USB flash drive into your computer.
- Launch the Ventoy application.
- In the Ventoy window, select your USB flash drive from the 'Device' dropdown menu.
- Click the Install button.
- Wait for Ventoy to finish installing itself onto the USB drive.
- Open your computer's file explorer. The USB drive should now appear, likely named 'Ventoy'.

Copy the Xkaliber OS ISO file (that you downloaded in Step 1) directly onto the main directory of this Ventoy USB drive. You can simply drag and drop the
.iso
file onto the drive. You do not need to extract the ISO.

Boot the computer from the USB Drive:
- Insert the prepared Ventoy USB drive where you intend to install Xkaliber.
- Turn on or restart.

As soon as the computer starts booting (often when the manufacturer's logo appears), you need to press a specific key to enter the BIOS/UEFI settings or the
Boot Menu.

Common keys include:
F2
,F10
,F12
,DEL
(Delete),ESC
(Escape). The correct key is often briefly displayed on the screen during startup (e.g., "Press F12 for Boot Menu"). You may need to press it repeatedly.

- If you entered the Boot Menu: Select the USB drive from the list and press Enter to boot from it.

If you entered the BIOS/UEFI Settings:
- Navigate to the 'Boot' or 'Boot Order' section using your keyboard arrow keys.
- Change the boot priority so that the USB drive is listed first.
- Go to the 'Exit' section and choose 'Save Changes and Exit' (often
F10
). Confirm saving changes. The computer will restart.

Launch the Xkaliber Installation:
- If configured correctly, the computer will now boot from the USB drive and display the blue Ventoy menu.
- You should see the name of the Xkaliber OS ISO file you copied listed on the screen. Use the arrow keys to highlight it and press Enter.
- The system will now start loading the Xkaliber OS installer from the ISO file.
- Follow the on-screen instructions provided by the Xkaliber installer carefully. This will guide you through partitioning the hard drive, setting up user accounts, and completing the OS installation onto the target computer's internal storage.

To use these features, simply open your terminal and type in the command you wish to use, then press Enter.

Important! Select audio drivers and multimedia when installing, but DO NOT select NVIDIA drivers. We have pre-installed the GPU drivers. Running Ubuntu's GPU driver installation will cause issues.
